Radial blade fans and blowers are most commonly used for material handling applications. The "open" design wheels allow for a self-cleaning feature. Materials conveyed include plastic pellets, wood chips, and saw dust as examples. More severe applications require abrasion resistant materials of construction. Air is used to move material directly or indirectly by use of the fan. Applications may be seen in the food and beverage industry to move food containers, cans or cartons down a conveyor line.
